Ellen's recommendation

Ellen enthusiastically recommended Girlchild by Tupelo Hassman when I saw her last week. I didn't remember hearing much about this book when it was published last year but found that my library had it so I checked it out.

The cover immediately drew me in, featuring an old style library date due slip.

The book is about a young girl growing in a trailer park. The story explores the boundaries to success for those coming from an impoverished background and the special challenges of being a poor female. It was a very quick read but one I will remember so I thought I'd recommend it to my other sisters.
